Eco-friendly fish farming

Eco-friendly is a concept that refers to actions, products, or lifestyles that have minimal impact on an environment.

This eco-friendly concept is based on the awareness of the importance of preserving nature for future generations. So in other words, eco-friendly behavior aims to reduce damage to ecosystems and ensure the sustainability of natural resources.

Fish farming has recently become the center of attention, this sector has grown rapidly characterized by various applications of modern farming technologies, namely implementing environmentally friendly fish farming with the method of water recirculation fish farming and biofloc fish farming.

This recirculation and biofloc fish farming system is an environmentally friendly closed system fish farming.

Recirculation and biofloc fish farming are innovative environmentally friendly methods.

Biofloc fish farming:

This method is widely used in tilapia farming because it can increase productivity and minimize land use. Biofloc allows fish to be raised in a closed system with sophisticated filtration. Biofloc system farming can minimize the level of pollution to the aquatic environment.

Recirculation fish farming system:

The recirculation system uses water circulation technology that allows for more efficient use of water. Cleanliness and water quality are better maintained, and the risk of pollution is lower.

In addition to having similarities, namely environmentally friendly fish farming, the two fish farming systems have several differences, including:

1. Biofloc is a fish farming method that uses aggregates of microbes, algae, and organic particles in water.

2. Advantages of biofloc:

a. Environmentally friendly: Biofloc minimizes water replacement due to the "auto-purification of water" process that converts leftover feed and waste into harmless compounds.

b. Fast harvest: Tilapia in the biofloc system can be harvested after 3.5 months.

Low FCR value: Low Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) (around 0.7) due to good feed efficiency.

3. The water recirculation system uses water circulation technology that allows for more efficient use of water.

4. Advantages of the water recirculation system:

a. Water cleanliness is maintained: Better water quality and low risk of pollution.

b. Suitable for catfish and tilapia cultivation
